Jacksonville, TX. - Melissa A. Johnson and Travon M. July were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Benson Church in Jacksonville, Texas at six o’clock pm. Reverend Tommy Starks officiated the candle light double ring ceremony before a beautifully decorated arch and sanctuary.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Mary Johnson and the late Dr. Willie Johnson, Jr. of Tyler, Texas. The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Travis and Felecia July both of Jacksonville.
The bride was given away by her brother Freddie Johnson. After the vows were repeated, a memorial and unity candle ceremony was performed. Following the repeating of the traditional wedding vows, the couple followed the African wedding tradition of Jumping the Broom. A reception honoring the couple was held immediately following the wedding in the fellowship hall. The wedding party and invited guests enjoyed an evening of music and dinner in the beautifully decorated dining room.
A black limousine awaited to take the newly weds to their destination. They will spend a week traveling from Tyler to Louisiana and Dallas. Their plans are to live in Tyler for a few years then move to Jacksonville.
The happy couple had this to say, “We thank everyone for your support on our special day. We ask you to keep God first and remember us in your prayers.”
